The process for this painting took a long and winding journey to its completion. I can’t quite remember how it got to the finished state. I believe it began with oil paints, then had to stop working in oils due to lack of good ventilation in my working space. After a few years of looking at the painting, I got a bit frustrated waiting to be able to paint in oils again, so I continued with gouache and acrylic. The painting is on a round stretched canvas and ready to hang. Edges are painted and does not need a frame.
I didn’t set out to paint a portrait of a butterfly, but instead set out to paint a portrait of the joy I receive when in a butterfly’s presence.
Canvas is 12″ in diameter and the edge is painted a bright pink.
